Welcome to Superjail

First let me say I know I haven't been here in a while. I've been busy with life and stuff, but don't think I've forgotten you all- I want to appologize if you've written me or commented and I haven't responded yet. I will try hard to answer you soon. Please be patient with me, and thank you for your feedback and interest in my drawings.

That being said... Ladies and Gentlemen, I have recently discovered a show. An amazing show. A show that, dare I say, I have not been so enamoured, enraptured, obsessed and completely in love with since my beloved Invader Zim came on some seven or so years ago. That show, my friends, is Superjail!, one of the most bizarre, insane, non-sensical, wonderful, incredible and just plain kick-ass things I've seen in a long time.

If you've seen it, you know what I'm talking about. If you haven't, then watch it! Go now, I'll wait...

Superjail!, to me, is just about everything an animated show should be. I'm so sick of lazilly done shows, put together with cut-and-paste characters where the only thing that moves is their mouths, and there's no level of artistry or detail in the style. The very first thing I noticed about Superjail! is that it MOVES-- the very definition of "animation." It's a constant bombardment of the senses, and everything goes by at such a fast, exhilarating pace, but there's also so much detail you want to go over it again frame by frame just to catch all the little references you missed- and believe me there are a TON of them.

The world of Superjail! is just so unappologetically strange and bloody and violent and insane, and I absolutely LOVE it ^^ I never thought I would even like a show like this, but now I'm hooked on it at a level to rival even my Zim infatuation. And I could go on and on about why Superjail! kicks the ass of every other thing ever, but I'd rather focus on my very favoritest thing about the show-- the strange, magical little man known only as "The Warden" ^__^

I. Seriously. Freaking. LOVE. This. Guy. I swear, I've got such a huge thing for him it's not even funny (well, maybe a little). He's so goddam SEXY!! And, looking at some of the fanart on here I'm not the only one who thinks so ^^ And those who know of my huge obsession with Dib will be shocked to learn that he may have passed even my Dib-level of devotion on the otaku-ness scale! 0.0 I know!! But, damn, there is just something so freaking AWESOME about the Warden. He's so expressive visually, and charismatic and likable despite his obvious evil genuis streak (but it's an... innocent... sort of evil, you know? Like a kid who just doesn't know any better), and gi-normous ego. He's sort of like a deviously-maniacal yet whimsically, delightfully-mad super-villian. I don't know if it's the gap-toothed grin, the yellow glasses or the Willy Wonka/Joker/Mad Hatter get-up (and he reminds me of all three rolled into one), but Mmmm! >_< Damn! lol Not to mention the guy can do anything- He's constantly bending the laws of physics at whim. The guy is like an acid trip personified. And he's just so frickin' adorable! *^^*

So far I've only seen four or so Superjail! episodes, but I'm already hopelessly hooked on it, and a big part of my madlove is devoted to the Warden. In a word, he's simply... fascinating. As is the whole show. Not kidding, I'm like a Superjail! junkie now. Oh, and I forgot to mention I LOVE the opening music (and btw the opening animation, even, is always something different-- love that!). Shit, I love EVERYTHING about it ^^ The smooth animation, the characters (The Warden is my fave, but I like all of them), and the unbridled weirdness and unpredictability and the way it takes references from absolutely every source and shoves it all inside the blender of sick, twisted humor that is Superjail!

Actually did this drawing at work between customers (I work at Super Pantry, which oddly enough, is a lot like SuperJAIL... at least it feels that way most the time. No strike that-- Superjail is a LOT more fun). Started as a doodle, but I liked it so I worked on it a little. The Warden is deceptively difficult to draw- it's hard to get his face right, but I think I just need a little practice is all. Tried a different way of shading here that I'm starting to like.

*sigh* I'm just so happy I have a new thing to get into ^_^ It's been a while since I've liked something to this extent. Not to mention having a character I'm so freaking, unbelievably hot for ^_- I think I just have a thing for black-spiky-haired guys with big glasses.
